“The only thing between you and your dream is “common sense and fear”

 I create Art for the WOW factor. This is the reaction from someone that enjoys a piece of art purely for their own reasons. I continually push myself, in the hope of one day, being considered a world-class carver. I’m inspired by world-class carvers and carvers of all levels. I enjoy the work of new carvers because they do not seem to be influenced by the carving community. I prefer Birds of Prey as my main subjects, although, I do carve many other species of wildlife and some Human Bust carvings. I carve the majority of my work in the round along with floral designs and wildlife in relief. My medium of choice is Tupelo wood from the swamps of Mississippi, Basswood, Soap Stone and Limestone.

Biography

 I started carving in 1997. Before this I designed custom furniture and continue to do so. I have taken some Oil painting classes, but my medium of choice is wood. I am self-taught. My work isn’t currently on display. It has all been word of mouth thus far for advertising, and I have been an active participant in the annual, Nova Scotia Wild Life Association carving competition. My work is currently in private collections in Switzerland, USA, Nova Scotia, British Colombia and Ontario.

 Since 1997 I have received several awards, which include, The People’s Choice Award ,for a life size Bald Eagle also Best in Division and Best in Show. I have also won various, First, Seconds and Third place ribbons for other carvings. I have been a member of the Nova Scotia Wild Life Carving Association since 2001. My favorite award is seeing the joy and reactions of the general public.
